How to Prepare Surfaces for Microcement
Microcement is one of the most versatile coatings – it can be applied over tiles, concrete, plasterboard, and even old paints. But proper surface preparation is 50% of success.
STEP 1: Assess the Surface
Ensure the surface is:
-
Dry (moisture below 4% for mineral surfaces)
-
Clean (free from grease, dust, oil)
-
Stable (not crumbling or moving)
STEP 2: Repair Cracks
All cracks and holes must be filled with suitable filler. For larger damage, cement mortar can be used.
STEP 3: Priming
PRIMER Q is the first step. It ensures adhesion and evens out surface absorbency. Apply with a roller and allow to dry for 4-6 hours.
STEP 4: When is the Surface Not Suitable?
❌ Wood parquet (unstable)
❌ Linoleum (poor adhesion)
❌ Damp surfaces (must fix moisture source first)
